When I decided to self publish last year and started looking into and researching everything I would need to do - 😬😲🥴. On my third go around it's getting better but wow! A lot to learn and a lot to take into account. I'm saving this for myself. You nailed all the steps.

First, thank you so much for sharing this blog post, Jason. I know how overwhelming it is to be a first-time or self-publishing author, and not realize how many steps are involved to getting your book out into the world. I learned this through experience as I failed miserably with my own books. However, I have realized over the years that I’m a much better editor than I am a writer because I’m such a voracious reader. I can’t write fiction well, so I am always in awe of those who can. And you are definitely someone who can! Every writer needs to be reminded at times that their book is ultimately for the reader, and not for themselves. And in order to not short-change the reader, the editing process is essential, as is knowing how to deal with all the technical stuff.

I can definitely tell you have a great eye for the technical side of things. Not “writing for myself” is definitely something I struggle with. I get that. I don’t know how many times I quit on my book last year while trying to figure out the self publishing thing. lol

To be honest, I’ve had to research the technical side of things because I know they’re a pain point for so many writers, including myself. I’m always looking to figure out how to solve writers’ common problems, and write about them in blog posts.

And I think you do a great job. I love reading your stuff, it’s been a huge help to me.
